ONE MIND
One Mind - this is an often pursued state where a group of people has attained a state where they are all interconnected, all tuned in together with in so no one has to say or command anything, we all just know. It is considered by many to be a high state of development when attained.
This goal of One Mind is presented in many religious and spiritual groups. Catholic Monks, Buddhists, Islam, Hindu, Charles Manson, Jim Jones. The way this is attained is presented as removing what is referred to these days as “the ego”, a term that Sigmond Freud coined and is now misused and misunderstood by millions to explain something that they don’t know. Once this “ego” is removed then the deeper Mind comes forth, and then we are of One Mind, in Tune, tuning in the knowledge of the eternal like a radio tuning in the broadcast that has all the truth.
Problem is, “the ego” only exists as a conversational reference point that one can use to fill in as awareness of something, when it actually is not. There isn’t even agreement in Psychology or Psychiatry that it exists. Now you might be thinking that I am contradicting my earlier writings on the Being of Conversation but I suggest that I am not. When people talk about the ego they mean a series of assumptions and beliefs that they hold, as a cover over deeper, possibly animalistic desire. But they think these assumptions and beliefs are theirs. The Being of Conversation might appear to be “ego” when you look at it, but it is actually an energy who’s “job” is to ensnare and hold your attention to it, to make you concerned with it while appearing to be your individual personality. It also provides a shield against the power of this place, while also making sure you can’t see the power of this place.
One Mind can be presented in several ways. Often as a wonderful state where we are all one, in love, fully aware of each others needs and desires. And often as those of us who have this state of being, and then there are all those “other people” who don’t have it. Which can lead to a superiority on the part of the “in group.”
Another way to see One Mind is we all operate together, surrendered to a common goal, knowing what is needed next without asking. You don’t need to ask, you just know. And if you don’t know, well you just need to clear your being a bit more, get more in tune. This is common in a lot of spiritual training, and can result in a state where you literally can read others and know what they are doing and thinking, as can an entire group.
It can be “abused” if handled by leaders as a way to drive you more to a state of wanting to fit in. Strip that non existent ego away, reveal the true you, that “true you” that is just a statement in your internal conversation. In this situation you are creating a state of internal struggle where the internal conversation is presenting One Mind as a goal to be attained by stripping away the internal conversation, resulting in a war of the internal conversation which in the end is just a big flashy show that holds your attention as you try to become enlightened. But a collection of thoughts and dreams, and energy here to limit perception, can not become enlightened. It can drag you around by the nose chasing a dream of enlightenment and spiritual coolness, but it can’t enlighten.
Often one is taught that you were limited by your upbringing, your parents rules, social rules, their ideas of right or wrong, there is not right or wrong, free your being of that. There is only what is right for you. There is no wrong. And I would say this is true to an extent. But what often happens is in the attempt to clean off all this training, there is often a striking back against the parent, the society, the rules. Even to the extreme of arming oneself, attacking “those people.” Think of all the groups wandering the earth right now, claiming to be cleaning it in anticipation of “something.” Charlie Manson’s group, building armed dune buddies to roam the desert to protect them during the great cleansing war to come. The various “ism’s” devastating millions of lives to attain the Great New World. The USA in Iraq - cleaning an area for democracy while the locals are shooting us to clean our darkness from the face of the earth. Everyone is striking at something to project some other something. Some idea, some internal dream of perfection, and you are in the way. No bad, no good, just what need to be done to bring forth the new better world. And look at how well it is working.
“Death of the False Ego” is a common call in spiritual groups. This is often taken to mean replace it with a fabricated belief of your better self, another Ego, which apparently is the True Self. Except it is also merely another creation of the Being of Conversation, another shield, and distraction from what is needed.
This energy that is the Being of Conversation is not a mystery. I am not making up a name for it. If you bring attention to it one has to be marveled that you have conversation within. What is that? Where do these thoughts exist? In the chemical reactions of the systems within what we call The Brain? Nerves talking to each other? Liquids sloshing around tissues, that is where thought is? I am simply proposing to you that there is a being here, independent of you, which is providing perception to every single things on this, an many other, levels of existence, and that it communicates with you on an energy level, deeper than feeling, and that it permeates your awareness, until it finally arrives as images, then words, a conversation. Three soldiers from different countries face each other ready for battle, having the same awareness and conversation within, yet the words are not the same because of the different languages. Three woman want to feed their child, all have the same conversation, but different languages. The awareness and conversation are not in the words. And the one who is talking in the conversation is an energy, a being, a Being of Conversation.
So this One Mind - is it real, or another of the Conversations attempts to hold your attention? To keep you from looking at what is happening here? I know of spiritual groups where the “Masters” can read your thoughts and feelings. They did it to me. Kind of a fun experience though a bit unsettling. Yet this feeds the person with thinking they are a master, and those who help them are imbued with self importance because they assist this apparently wonderful being. But here you are, back at superiority. Here you are, back at trying to be a God, trying to be separated from the One Who Is, even while claiming you do it in God’s service.
